Harpa’s striking facade draws its inspiration from crystallised basalt columns commonly found in Icelandic nature. The facade reflects the city life and the different light composed by the movements of the sun and varying weather. Within its walls are outstanding facilities for conferences, meetings and exhibitions. Four main halls and several meeting rooms offer some of the most technologically advanced equipment available. In addition to this, Harpa has spacious reception and exhibition areas that can be used for a variety of happenings.

Eldborg is Harpa’s largest hall. The name Eldborg, which translates from Icelandic as ”Fire Castle“, has a stunning red décor suitable for a hall that got its name from one of Iceland’s most recognised volcanic craters.
Representing the earth element, HARPA‘s largest conference hall is called Silfurberg after the translucent calcite crystal that is rarely found outside of Iceland. Silfurberg is on the second floor of Harpa. Its size is 735 m², ceiling height 8.5 m and floor area 35mx21m.
Norðurljos, which means Northern lights in Icelandic („Aurora Borealis“), is a spacious hall on the second floor, situated between Eldborg and Silfurberg. Its size is 540 m², ceiling height 12 m and floor area 27mx20m.
On the second level there is a 450 m² exhibition area called Eyri, which features a stunning view of central Reykjavik and the surrounding mountains. The foyer in front of Eldborg, is known as Hörpuhornid.
Floi is a beautiful reception area on the first level with a fantastic view of the harbour. It covers a total area of 1,500 m².
